We are proud to be supporting Take Five to Stop Fraud and Amazon’s launch of their Can You Spot Fraud? quiz . The Business Cost Of Fraud in 2021 was £77.4 million (UK Finance Annual Fraud Report 2022). Businesses of all sizes are at risk of fraud and scams.
Small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) are more at risk than other businesses,
- they may have limited resources to counter fraud and scams
- there may not be regular training in place on how to identify and avoid fraud and scams
- there may be less of a clear split between work and home life, with the use of work laptops at home and personal mobiles
The Take Five to Stop Fraud campaign has collaborated with Amazon to create a Can You Spot Fraud? quiz to support all businesses to protect themselves from fraud and scams. If you receive a request to make an urgent payment, change supplier bank details or provide financial information, take a moment to stop and think. Ask yourself could it be fake? Verify payments and supplier details directly with the company on a known phone number or in person first. It may feel awkward checking with your boss but they’ll be grateful that you are helping to protect the business it’s better to be safe than sorry!
