CyberScotland Week 2025
CyberScotland Week 2025 was a huge success thanks to everyone who got involved and hosted or attended events! Conversations about strengthening our collective cyber resilience were in abundance across almost 100 events. See highlights at #cyberscotlandweek.
CyberScotland Partnership expands with three new partners
We are thrilled to welcome our three new Partners: The Scottish Cyber Coordination Centre (SC3), the Local Government Digital Office, and Age Scotland. The CyberScotland Partnership now consists of 21 partners working together to coordinate efforts to improve cyber resilience across Scotland.


Over £600k recovered by Scotland’s Cyber and Fraud Hub
A new Head of Skills Academy has been appointed at Cyber and Fraud Centre – Scotland as part of the organisation’s efforts to further develop on- and offline resilience training for organisations of all sizes. Katie O’Neill brings extensive experience in cybercrime training, having worked with Police Scotland in her previous role as Cyber and Digital Forensics Training Lead.
New AI Scottish partnership formed to fight online scams
The Cyber and Fraud Hub has teamed up with free consumer scam-checking platform Ask-Silver in a bid to fight back against online scams. Both organisations are committed to delivering comprehensive support services and educational initiatives to empower more people in recognising and avoiding online scams via a few clicks of a button.


Romance scam guide launched
Lead Scotland has published an easy-to-read guide and a BSL video guide about romance scams.
Record number of girls sign up for NCSC CyberFirst competition
A record number of schoolgirls from across the UK took part in the 2024/25 CyberFirst Girls Competition, which is run by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
Schoolgirls from across the UK received awards for their exceptional cyber security skills at a ceremony on International Women’s Day, including the winning Scottish team from Hyndland Secondary School.
Since the competition launched in 2017, around 85,000 girls have taken part.

Ofcom calls on tech firms to make online world safer for women and girls
The UK communications regulator is currently seeking feedback on their guidance containing practical steps for online services to tackle misogyny, pile-ons, online domestic abuse and other harms.
UK’s safety institute renamed
The UK’s AI Safety Institute has been renamed the AI Security Institute to reflect the UK’s plans to tackle AI-associated risks and potential security implications.


Vodafone launches cyber security educational series
Vodafone Business has launched a brand-new cyber security video series, designed to explore key themes in cyber resilience and provide expert insights into the evolving threat landscape.
UK cyber security sector could be worth £13bn
The cyber sector in the UK has seen significant investment in recent months, and has grown 12% in the last year, new analysis has claimed. The industry generated £13.2 billion in revenue over the past year, with a total gross value added of £7.8 billion, up 21% from the year before. UK must pay cyber pros more than its Prime Minister, top civil servant says
The civil service’s COO, Cat Little, told the UK’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday that the government knows its remuneration offers are too low to attract top cybersecurity talent. Senior officials believe that future cyber hires in government need to be paid a salary higher than that of the Prime Minister if the government wants to get serious about fending off attacks.
Nearly half of all data centres to be used for AI by 2030
The increasing energy and data demands of AI means that nearly half (44%) of all new UK data centres are predicted be dedicated for AI workloads over the coming five years as the global push for AI accelerates.


Scotland’s most advanced cyber defence hub opens
Scottish Government Business Minister, Richard Lochhead MSP opened Acumen Cyber’s new Security Operations Centre (SOC) at the £9m EastWorks development in Glasgow, which will be Scotland’s most advance cyber defence hub.
