The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has published a press release urging UK organisations to check out their recently updated cyber security guidance in response to malicious cyber incidents in and around Ukraine.

This guidance encourages organisations to take actionable steps that reduce their risk of falling victim to an attack. While the NCSC is not aware of any current specific threats to UK organisations, there have been recent reports of malicious cyber incidents in Ukraine similar to previous attacks carried out by Nation States, such as the NotPetya incident in 2017.

We know many organisations and businesses in the UK have well laid out plans and good cyber security measures in place. However, due to the nature of online global networks, attacks that occur overseas could have an impact on UK institutions services and systems. This is why organisations and businesses are being urged to take action now.

It is vital organisations stay ahead of a potential threat and make sure the fundamentals of cyber security are in place to protect their devices, networks and systems.

Such controls covered in the guidance include patching, improving access controls, and testing incident response plans.
